The Patna District Court has reserved its order on an anticipatory bail plea filed by renowned educator and YouTuber Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir. The petition seeks protection from arrest in connection with a case involving vandalism and gunfire outside his coaching institute, Khan Global Studies, located in Patna's Kadamkuan area on June 2.
During the hearing, counsel appearing for Khan Sir argued that the First Information Report (FIR) registered against him was politically motivated and aimed at damaging his reputation. The defense contended that Khan Sir had no direct involvement in the incident and had been falsely implicated in the case. After hearing submissions from both sides, the court reserved its decision on the anticipatory bail application.
The legal challenges for the popular educator intensified after Patna Police booked him under Section 109 (abetment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act. The action followed statements made by two private security guards employed at Khan Global Studies, Pradeep Kumar and Talebar Singh, who were arrested after viral videos allegedly showed them firing weapons into the air during the disturbance.
According to the police complaint, both security guards claimed that they had opened fire on the explicit instructions of Khan Sir in an attempt to disperse an aggressive crowd gathered outside the institute. These allegations subsequently led to the inclusion of Khan Sir's name in the case.
The incident reportedly occurred on the night of June 2, when a group of approximately 15 to 20 individuals, allegedly linked to a rival coaching institute, attacked the premises of Khan Global Studies. The group is accused of assaulting a security guard, pelting stones, and causing damage to the property.
Following the incident, Khan Sir defended the actions of his security personnel, describing the gunfire as an act of self-defence. He questioned what bodyguards are expected to do when confronted with an immediate physical threat before law enforcement authorities arrive at the scene.
Before the case against Khan Sir was registered, local police had arrested three individuals associated with the rival Gyan Bindu Coaching Institute, including its director, Raushan Anand. The arrests were made based on a complaint filed by the management of Khan Global Studies regarding the alleged attack on the coaching centre.
Investigators believe that professional rivalry, particularly competition over student success rates and affordable fee structures among coaching institutes in the region, may have been a contributing factor behind the dispute that ultimately led to the violent confrontation.
